What Is Foster-To-Adopt?

Our foster-to-adopt (FTA) program allows potential adopters to foster a dog for up to 2 weeks with the intention of adopting the dog permanently if it is a good fit for their home. During the fostering window, the potential adopter has an opportunity to see if the dog is a good match for other family members, pets, and the home environment.

If the fostering period goes well and the potential adopter decides to proceed, they can then formally adopt the dog. This process helps both the dog and the potential adopter determine if they are a good fit for each other before making a long-term commitment.

How Long Do I Have To Decide If I Want To Adopt My Foster?

As a FTA candidate, you will have 2 weeks after bringing the animal home to decide whether you would like to adopt. If during this window adoption applications come in, FTA candidates will have first choice on whether to adopt the pet.

When am I allowed to adopt my foster animal?

Anytime you feel 100% certain during the foster-to-adopt period! In order to finalize the adoption please inform your foster contact to finalize the contract and adoption fee.
