About us

Our Vision

We envision a world where animals are no longer vulnerable; where animal resources and services are accessible to all; and where the human-animal connection is everlasting.

Second Chance Animal Alliance is a 501c3 nonprofit animal welfare organization serving Water Valley, Mississippi and the Yalobusha County north Mississippi area.

What We Do

Rescue

SCAA admits animals in all conditions and temperaments. Our dedicated volunteers, fosters, and staff allow us to take in over 300 dogs per year.

In addition, we make every effort to assist those who find stray animals throughout our community. We are willing to help them with treatment and locate rescues, especially if they are willing to foster.

Rehabilitate

In addition to shelter, medical care, and spay/neuter services, SCAA provides behavioral rehabilitation for all its residents. Our foster program helps socialize our dogs while simultaneously growing our service capacity.

Rehome

Roughly 5% of dogs in Mississippi are adopted locally or returned to their owners. With increased education surrounding adoption and animal care, SCAA and our trusted rescue partners are committed to finding every dog that passes through our organization a loving home.

About Us

The Second Chance Story

For years the Water Valley, MS community lacked animal care with dignity. With the heartfelt conviction that every animal deserves a safe, clean, and loving environment, regardless of its background , our board members founded Second Chance Animal Alliance in November 2014.

Our Mark

On a very wet and rainy day, a litter of puppies in a kennel scurried over to greet our board members, leaving a muddy paw print on the new nonprofit organization’s papers.

Our Name

Second Chance Animal Alliance

At the heart of our organization’s name is our sincere belief that it takes a united effort – an alliance – to give every dog the second chance they deserve. Together with our volunteers, donors, and partner rescues, we offer each dog that crosses our path a new lease on life.
