For those of you who have been following Diego here, his foster parents were able to adopt him in April. He has proven that no shelter dog is beyond help. He has had successful outings to Hollywood Feed, the dog park, and Pet Smart, where he patrolled the aisles until he found the cats! While we initially observed that he was dog-reactive, he has since made friends with the neighbor’s dog, and even had a sleepover with another SCAA adoptee, Clint (pictured with Diego below)!
From Diego’s adopters:
Thank you for keeping up with Diego’s journey.
After volunteering at an SCAA adoption event, I signed up to foster. We’ve always wanted a dog but never felt it was the right time. We had so much love to offer a dog like Diego who desperately needed to get out of the shelter. Sometimes you just have to do what is in your heart, am I right? While in foster care, Diego transformed into a playful, loving dog, which the shelter had not yet seen from him. We started wondering if we could keep him, and when his original adoption fell through, we knew it was meant to be.
Our lives have been so enriched by becoming pet owners. We had no idea what we were missing, and, in the end, we aren’t sure who saved who.
