Spring 2023 by the numbers

March & April were two more months of record-breaking activity. Our success in moving dogs to permanent homes continues. Outpacing dogs placed over dogs taken in remains an elusive goal.

  • 23 dogs were transported to rescues large and small. We remain committed to finding rescues who will work with us!
  • 33 dogs were adopted locally. This is probably the first time that local adoption exceeded transports, but we have no illusions about being able to place all our dogs through adoptions. We hope to increase transports in the coming months.
  • Unfortunately, intakes exceeded our best efforts, and we had a net increase in headcount of 15 dogs, leaving us with a new record of 61 dogs, 51 of which are in foster (and for our fosters we remain incredibly grateful)!

Despite our limited resources, we continue to do our best to support and advocate for the lost, found, and abandoned pups of Yalobusha and Lafayette counties, as well as those in the City of Oxford.
